May Wood
Resolutions of Respect.
WHEREAS, Death has invaded our society and taken from us our friend and sister, Mrs. Mary Swartout; therefore be it
Resolved, That in her death, while in the budding of womanhood, and the promise of life useful and loving, reminds us our transitory nature, and of the slight tenure we have upon life.
Resolved, That in her death we recognize the loss of an earnest, faithful, self-sacrificing member, social and courteous in her intercourse, and prompt in performance of duty.
Resolved, That to her husband, father mother and brothers she has left, we tender our true sympathies in their great affliction, and as an evidence of our sorrow, we give the broken harp:
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be furnished to the family, and also be furnished the city papers for insertion and the same to be placed on the record of Crescent Literary Society.
