Jonathan L. Wise
DEATHS.
The Tribune is again called upon to chronicle the death of another one of our pioneers. This time it is Jonathan L. Wise who has answered the roll-call of Death, and gone to his eternal reward. Mr. Wise departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 24th, at his residence in McCool Station, this county, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 2 days. He had been ailing for the past three months, but had been bedfast only seven days. The funeral was held Monday, Oct. 26th, the services being conducted by Rev. J. H. O. Smith, of Valparaiso, and the remains were interred in the McCool cemetery.
Deceased was postmaster of McCool ever since the office was established, a period of seven or eight years. At his death the office was turned over to his bondsmen, who appointed M. L. Stahl deputy, and an examination of the books showed a balance due the government of 64 cents, and the government indebted to Mr. Wise to the amount of $12. He leaves a wife and nine grown children, and a wide circle of friends to mourn his demise.
