Mary Ann Wicks
DEATH'S DOINGS.
Mrs. Burrill Hall and Miss Jane Ansbro Join The Silent Majority
DIED: -- Mrs. Mary Wicks Hall, wife of Burrill D. Hall, at her home near Crisman, Porter county, Ind., at four o'clock Sunday afternoon, Feb. 2nd, 1890, of lung fever. Her remains were laid at rest in the McCool cemetery, the Rev. Hall officiating.
Mrs. Mary Wicks Hall was born near Utica, N. Y., May 22d, 1816, making her at the time of her death 73 years, 7 months, and 10 days old. On Dec. 24, 1827, she was married to Benjamin Bull, who died March 5th, 1864. In 1865 she was married to Burril D. Hall, with whom she lived up to the time of her death. By her first husband she had two children; Emily, the wife of David Hugart, and Edwin, who died in Deerfield, Chickasaw county, Iowa, some years since. Mrs. Hugart alone survives her.
To know her was to love her, and all that loving hands could do to keep her with us a little longer only proved the weakness of human skill when once the dreaded summons had been issued. Her virtues were many, her faults were few. She loved the good and beautiful. She was ever ready to help those who were deserving of help, and never left pity to predominate. Her modest virtuous and unassuming life has been an object lesson to a host of friends who will live better lives from having known her. The afflicted husband and daughter have the sympathy of a large circle of friends, but do not mourn alone.
[Note: The year of Mary's marriage to Benjamin Bull should be listed as 1837 and not 1827.]
