Archelans E. Whitten

CHESTERTON CHIPS
The remains of A. E. Whitten were brought to Chesterton for interment on the evening of Feb. 25, and the funeral was held the following day under the auspices of Calumet Lodge, F. & A. M. Mr. Whitten died at Tampa Bay, Florida, on Feb. 21, of Bright's disease.

Archelans E. Whitten was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jan. 6, 1832, and came to Indiana in 1861. For 28 years he held the position of station agent for the Michigan Central railroad at Porter. In November, 1890 he resigned this position, and moved to Douglas, Mich., which was his home until his death. For several years his health has been failing, and last November, by advice of his physician, he went to Florida in the hopes that the climate would help him. At first he began to improve, but later on grew worse until death relieved him of his sufferings.

Deceased leaves a wife, daughters, and one brother and numerous friends to mourn his loss. He was a kind husband and a loving father.
