H. L. Whiting
Run the First Train to Chicago.
"Pap" Whiting is dead, the conductor who ran over the Lake Shore along in the sixties and who took the first passenger train over the road into Chicago in 1852. The town of Whiting now was named after him when made a siding. He died of apoplexy at his home in Chicago, aged 76. His name was H. L. Whiting.
