Frank Walter
Coroner's Inquest Report.
State of Indiana,
Porter County.
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 11th day of June, 1876, information was given to me that the dead body of a man was found in Benjamin Vanwicker's field near Chesterton, said county and state, supposed to have come to his death by casualty, and I thereupon caused a jury to be summoned, sworn, and charged to ascertain, so far as possible, the cause and circumstances of said death. Witnesses, accordingly, were called and sworn, and testimony taken and reduced to writing, signed by both said jury and myself, and filed in the Clerk's office of said county; whereupon said jury made their verdict that "the said decedent came to his death by exposure and intoxicating drinks." Said decedent's name was Frank Walter; his age about 53 years; he was a Swede of light complexion, five feet and eight inches high, and dressed in dark brown clothes. On his person was found $6.75 in money and an old brass watch. As he had no friends or relatives to take charge of his remains, I caused them to be properly buried.
W. C. PARAMORE,
Coroner of Porter County.
