CHESTERTON CHIPS
Charles G. Walgren, a well known citizen of this place, died Monday Feb. 20th. On Feb. 16th the deceased was found lying in the road near the old Gilbertsville school building, where he had been living with his nephew, Axel Anderson, in a very week condition. He was removed to the house and a doctor called, who found him suffering from a severe attack of pneumonia, and was the cause of his death. Mr. Walgren was born in Dist Parish, Sweden, Oct. 15, 1831, and came to this country in 1854, settling in this township, and has lived here ever since. When the war broke out he enlisted in the 42nd Ind. Inf. and was honorably discharged in 1865. He leaves two children, a son and daughter now living in Idaho. The deceased was one of the first Swedish settlers to come to this county. Coroner Ketchum held an inquest Tuesday and found that death was due to pneumonia. He was 67 years, 4 months and 5 days old. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Lundberg's undertaking rooms, Rev. Holmgrain officiating.
