CAUGHT AT LAST.
A Wholesale Murderer Captured three years after the Commission of a Horrible Crime.

Henry Augustine who on Friday night, Dec. 30th, 1880, murderered his aunt and cousins and wounded his uncle and another cousin at their home near Westville, has been at last captured and taken to Laporte to be tried for his crime.

Augustine has been traced through California and the western territories, but all efforts to capture him have proved fruitless until a few days since. His capture was affected by an ex-sheriff of one of the counties in Michigan who removed to Neponsett, Ill. A girl acquainted with Augustine, lived in his family, who kept up a correspondence with the murderer, and by accident the ex-sheriff, who knew of the murderer, discovered the fact. He immediately wrote Sheriff Dickover acquainting him with the fact. This letter was forwarded to the Laporte county sheriff. The result was the capture of Augustine on a farm near Cawker City, Kansas, by Deputy John Weaver, of Laporte. At the time of the murder a reward of $1,500 was offered for his capture, but whether that reward is still offered is not known.
