Coroner's Inquest Report.
State of Indiana,
Porter County.} SS.
BE IT REMEMBERED, That on the 21st day of August, 1878, information was given to me that the body of a dead girl had been found on the beach of Lake Michigan, nearly north of Chesterton, in Westchester Township, of said county, supposed to have come to her death by violence or casualty, and I thereupon caused a jury to be summoned, sworn and charged to ascertain so far as possible the cause and circumstances of said death. Witnesses were accordingly called and sworn and their material evidence reduced to writing, signed by both said jury and myself and filed in the clerk's office of said county; whereupon said jury made their verdict that decedent's name was unknown, that she was about 14 years of age. 4 feet 10 1/2 inches high, and dressed for bathing, and that she came upon her death by accidental drowning.
Her person was placed in charge of Mr. Frank Quick, of Chesterton, who volunteered to deliver it with her parents or friends of Michigan City, Ind., where she was supposed to have resided.
WM. C. PARAMORE,
Coroner of Porter County.
