Georgia Tucker
Death of Georgia Tucker.
From Hart Argus.
The sad news came by telegraph Wednesday that Miss Georgia Tucker, aged 15 1/2 years, was dead at Scottville, where the family moved temporarily a few weeks ago. She died Tuesday night of paritonitis, after a short illness, and the sad news came to relatives and friends here without a word of warning. The body arrived in Hart Thursday morning and the funeral took place in the M. E. church on that afternoon, and was attended by a general out-pouring of the people, bearing evidence of a heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved, and high esteem of the one gone before. Floral offerings were profuse. The body was interred in Prospect hill cemetery.
Georgia was born and reared in Hart, with the exception of three years of her life. She was bright, intelligent, always cheerful and greeted one pleasantly. She had hosts of friends among the young people. She was a favorite in school, and social circle. Just blooming into womanhood, there seemed to be a bright future and great hope in store for her. Who can measure the pang, the great weight of loss, of doting parents, who have reared such an one to the threshold of promising womanhood, and then have the life light flicker out, with no power in them to save? Even the cognizance that there is a higher, nobler life beyond, does not for the time, nor in the earthly sense, compensate the loss -- but in the hereafter we shall "know as we are known," and realize fully that "all is well."
Again we are forcibly reminded that the death angel stalks the earth. Whose threshold will he next cross?
