Elizabeth Townley
Died. -- At Crown Point, on Wednesday morning, the 21st inst., Mrs. Elizabeth Townley, mother of Rev. Wm. Townley; aged 71 years, 2 months, and 16 days. The deceased was a native of Springfield, New Jersey. Some three years ago she came west to spend the evening of her days with her only surviving son. Her death was caused by a fall which happened to her on the Saturday morning before her death. Mrs. Townley was eminently a mother in Isreal. -- For many years she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and up to the very last week of her life an active Sabbath school teacher. Many of her pupils will in the last day rise up and call her blessed for having been the instrument of their conversion.
Her end was that of a Christian. -- She trusted implicitely in the Lord Jesus Christ, and died in hope, without a struggle or a groan. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
