Cornelia Talcott
In Memoriam.
[From the Iola (Kansas) Register.]
Mrs. Cornelia (Ball) Talcott was born at Valparaiso, Indiana, Oct. 2, 1838, died at Iola, Kansas, Jan. 28, 1875, aged 36 years, 3 months, and 26 days.
In company with her husband, Mrs. Talcott came to Kansas in 1868, and has ever since been a resident of Iola. During the revival of 1872, under the pastoral labors of H. W. Stratton, she became a member of the Presbyterian Church. It is the testimony of those who knew her best that she has filled well her place in the relations of life -- daughter, wife, mother and Christian neighbor. She leaves behind to mourn her departure both parents, a husband, two little sons, a brother and sister, and a large circle of Christian friends and neighbors. For more than a year before her death, she was a great sufferer. It is believed that she enjoyed but few hours of that time free from pain. She has now entered into rest, has gone to the heavenly home where there is no more death, no more sorrow, nor crying, "neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away."
"She hath escaped all danger now,
Her pain and fighting all are fled;
The crown of joy is on her brow,
Eternal glories o'er her head."
"In golden robes a queen, a bride,
She standeth at her Sovereign's side;
She sees his face unveiled and bright,
A lesser light amid His light."
