Alden M. Skinner
DIED.
SKINNER. -- In Valparaiso, Ind., on August 13, 1874, Alden M., Son of DeForest L. and Rachel A. Skinner, aged 5 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
A nd shall we hear again, no more
L ittle steps of thins upon the floor?
D isrobed and laid to rest, art thou?
E ach mourn, returning, brings thee -- never?
N o! thou art passed away -- forever?
M emory will force the tears we shed
S till we know thou art not dead.
K ind Heaven hath made thy dwelling place --
I nstead of earth -- before his face;
N o fading there, no pangs of sorrow;
N o! there to-day has no to-morrow;
E arth hath her clouds -- they're nought to thee;
R isen far above them, thou art free!
