At the age of ten years he moved with his parents to Elkhart co., Ind., where they lived two years. In 1836 the family moved to Lake county, Ind., and settled on a piece of land west of Hobart. In 1856 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary J. Wood, with whom he lived happily until her death in 1865. To them were born two daughters and one son. Mrs. Bertha Taylor, who resides among us is the only surviving one. In 1867 he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Dalson, with whom he lived until his death Feb. 17th. In 1846, at the age of 22 years, Mr. Sigler built the first store in Hobart, Ind., and conducted a general merchantile business for nine years, when he came to Hebron in 1854 and began the same business in partnership with his brother Eli. Together they carried on an extensive business for thirty-one years. For many years their business was most flourishing, and they were identified with almost every business enterprise in the community. He was always very helpful and kind to those about him who were in need, one of the leading citizens in promoting the betterment of the town, and a man of unusual physical and moral strength. His influence was always on the side of good morals and perfect citizenship.

"Lives of great men oft remind us,
We can make our lives sublime,
And departing leave behind us,
Foot prints on the sands of time."
