Sarah M. Sayles
From the DAILY VIDETTE, of Wednesday, Feb. 27th inst.
The death of Mrs. G. A. Sayles occurred at 3:10 p. m. yesterday after ten days' illness of pneumonia, creating in the hearts of a large number of our citizens a profound sadness. That very estimable lady had been a resident here many years and had gained an exceptionally warm place in the affections of intimate friends. Amiability, kindness and Christian fortitude were conspicuously characteristic of her unselfish life. None knew her but to admire her loving nature and her memory will be cherished not alone by her fond family and kindred, but by the community, where a majority, at least of the older families, enjoyed her acquaintance. A husband and five children comprise the afflicted family. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p. m. to-morrow at the residence on Franklin street.
