James C. Russell
OBITUARY.
DIED, in this town, on Thursday last, of Dysentery, JAMES C., infant son of Peter T. and Adelgurtha Russell, aged 10 months and 29 days.
Dearest babe, thy pains are ended,
To thy Savior's bossom flown,
While with the earth thy dust is blended
Ere the ills of life were known.
Softly, sweetly from thy clay,
Passed the ransomed soul away.
Thou hast learned to sing his praises
Ere the notes of earth were found;
Angels' strains our infant raises --
First in heaven thy toungue's unbound.
Shall we meet, redeemed one,
When the toils of life are done?
Toils, oh yes, and pain sorrow,
Thou art saved but we must bear,
Weep to-day and yet to-morrow,
Ere we hope to meet thee there.
Hark! and do we hear thee say,
"Soon the strife will pass away?"
"Yes, my parents, there's a morning
Brighter than your thoughts can know,
Then we'll hail its glorious dawning,
And the just shall find it so.
Be thou faithful till he come
Who hath called my spirit home."
P. T. RUSSELL.
