Nancy Gould Robinson
DIED.
ROBINSON. -- Early on the morning of Friday, the 20th inst., at the residence of Mr. Matthew Turner, in Valparaiso, Mrs. Nancy Gould Robinson, widow of Richard Robinson, who died in this county on the 28th of February, 1871, in the 84th year of her age.
Mrs. Robinson was born at Douglass, Mass., in April, 1794, and was married to Richard Robinson on the 6th of September, 1812. Her husband having become expert in the manufacture of cotton goods, they removed to various points where he could pursue his calling. When the first cotton mill was built in Pittsburgh, Pa., they removed with their family to that city that he might take its superintendency. The exact date is not remembered by the surviving children, but it was not far from 1830, and when Pittsburgh was as yet a small place. They subsequently returned to Massachusetts. They came to this county about 21 years ago. They had eleven children, of whom four survive. There are also numerous grand-children and great-grand-children. Mr. and Mrs. Robinson were members of the Protestant Episcopal church. In 1868 they united with the Presbyterian church in Valparaiso. Mrs. Robinson lived a consistent Christian life. Her health had been visibly declining for several weeks prior to her death, but her decease was at the time unexpected. Suddenly and without a struggle she passed away, having on the previous day sat down at the table with the family. Her remains were buried in the cemetery near Mr. Kimball's on Saturday, the 21st inst.
