Mary B. Rigg

CHESTERTON CHIPS
Mary B., wife of William Rigg, died April 7, 1898, at her home 5 miles south of Valparaiso, of heart failure. She was born in Alleghany county, Pennsylvania, Dec. 25, 1815, and was one of the eldest of a family of eight children born to John and Rebecca Wallace. Her father and mother both lived to the advanced age of 93 years. She was married to Wm. Rigg, Nov., 1844, and with her husband came to this county in 1861. A husband and five children survive her. In early childhood she united with the Presbyterian church and has since been a follower of Christ. She was a devoted wife, a tender and loving mother and a kind and sympathetic neighbor. She was home loving and her worth was bet shown by the best subjects of her daily devotion. She died as she had lived, surrounded by her loved ones. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fleming, pastor of the Presbyterian church, and were held at the old home. The remains were laid to rest in the Fleming cemetery.
