William Rhode
TALK OF THE TOWN
William Rhode was instantly killed at a point east of Otis at an early hour Monday morning. Rhode started down the track to his work. The Lake Shore is double track between Laporte and Otis and Rhode was walking on the north track when he was warned by the shriek of the locomotive of the coming of a train from the east. He stepped to the south track only to be struck by a train which bore down upon him from the west. Rhode was instantly killed, his mangled remains being strewn along strewn along [sic] the track for some distance.
