Sarah Pugh
OBITUARY.
Miss Sarah Pugh, daughter of James and Margaret Pugh, departed this life, May 18th, 1875, in the most heart rending manner, being burned to death literally, accidently catching fire, and before assistance reached her the fire had invaded the tenement of clay, and in a few hours Sarah quietly passed over the Jordan to that beautiful world beyond. It was my painful and sorrowful duty to preach her funeral, and truly it was one of the most distressing of my life. Sarah was a beautiful girl, sweet-tempered, kind-hearted, filial in devotion to her parents, and so far as I can learn was always universally loved. Dear Sarah thou art gone on before us to that happy shore where the wicked ceased from troubling and the weary are forever at rest. I never witnessed more heart-felt sympathy than was manifested on this occasion by all who were present, and indeed all the community seemed to participate in this awful bereavement. The Lord bless all the dear ones that are connected with the deceased. Sarah has left this world in the morning of life. She is taken away from the evil to come. It is always sad to part with loved ones, but more especially severe when taken away so calamitously. Sarah leaves two sisters and two brothers to mourn her early departure. But the Lord hath given and the Lord hath taken away and blessed be name of the Lord. -- JOB.
