BODY OF C. H. PARKER TO ARRIVE TOMORROW
(From Friday's Daily)
The body of C. H. Parker, Sr., is expected to arrive here tomorrow night, accompanied by Mrs. Parker and by Mrs. M. F. Parker, from San Leon, Tex., and arrangements have been made for the funeral in St. Andrews Episcopal church, of which Mr. Parker was a senior warden. Mr. Parker was also senior warden of St. Andrew's Episcopal church, Chicago.
Mr. Parker's first years in business were in the capacity of a printer in the newspaper office of an uncle at his birthplace, Geneva, N. Y. He entered the brick manufacturing business at Porter in 1870, and sold out one year later. Locating in Chicago soon afterward, he began the manufacture of paint and conducted a large paint and color grinding business. He bought a farm southwest of this city in 1881 and used this as his summer home until 1889, when he moved his Chicago business there. He had been president of the C. H. Parker company, varnish manufacturers, since its incorporation.
Mr. Parker was president of Valparaiso's first Chamber of Commerce in 1900, when the Chicago Mica company located here. He retired from active business about eight years ago, and each winter for several years he and Mrs. Parker have gone to the south. Mr. Parker's health had been gradually declining for about two years.
Upon arrival here the body will be taken to the home of Mrs. M. F. Parker, 502 Lafayette street. Funeral services will be conducted in St. Andrew's Episcopal church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. Walter B. Williamson. Interment will be in Graceland.
