Arthur Milan Morgan
Arthur Milan Morgan.
The remains of Arthur Milan Morgan, son of the late George C. Morgan, were brought to Chesterton Monday afternoon, and were met at the depot by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. The casket was taken directly to the home of the deceased, where the remains were viewed by old friends. The funeral was held Tuesday, services being conducted the family residence by Rev. Weston, and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives from abroad, and almost the entire community.
Mr. Morgan took sick last March with the grippe, which was followed by a severe attack of lung fever. For a long time he hovered between life and death but finally became sufficiently strong to warrant his going to Colorado in the hope that the climate would restore him to health. He started for Colorado in April, but before he left the seeds of quick consumption had been planted in his system, and even the air of Colorado could not exterminate them. He located in Denver, taking the best treatment obtainable, but with no avail. He could not bring himself to believe that he would not get well, and remained in Denver until it was too late for him to return home alive. He died in St. Luke's hospital, Sept. 5, at 7 p. m.
Deceased was born June 21, 1866, and consequently was 30 years, 2 months and 14 days old at the time of his death.
He was one of two children born to George and Maria Bishop Morgan, Mr. Morgan's first wife. He was a graduate of the Valparaiso Normal, and a young man of splendid talents, industrious and ambitious. He never married. His death is sincerely mourned by all who knew him.
