Dorinda Morrison Maxwell
In Memoriam.
Died, July 8th, 1882, at the homestead near Tassinong, Mrs. Dorinda Morrison Maxwell, aged 70 years 6 months and 22 days.
Mrs. Maxwell was born in Dublin, Ireland, in December 1811. In 1820 she was married to John Maxwell, of North Port, Ireland, who was summoned to the bar of God in '72, in the 69th year of his age. Two children, William and Rebecca were born unto them across the waters -- the latter returning to it maker after a few weeks on earth.
Removing to America, in 1834, they located at Montreal, Canada. Two years hence finds them living at Westville, Ind. Removing to Porter county in 1843 they took possession of the farm that furnished them a pleasant home the remainder of their days.
The family consisted of nine children, eight of whom have grown to manhood and womanhood, and seven were permitted to pay the last, sad rites to the mother on Sabbath July 9th -- when an appropriate sermon was delivered by Rev. R. Beer, and the remains deposited in the burying ground west of Kouts.
Mrs. Maxwell was raised in the faith of the church of England and through her three score years and ten acknowledged the goodness and superiority of the Almighty. Calmly with a resignation complete, did she pass away, leaving a comforting thought in her dying words "All is well."
