Emma Longley
In Memory of Little Emma Longley,
Daughter of John and Emily Longley.
Emma thou were too pure for earth,
Thou art gone to the happen land,
Where thou wilt wear a crown of gold,
And dwell with thy angel band.
Weary mother with tearful eye,
Patiently hoping that she would not die;
Oh, there is no grief so deep and clear,
None springs from the heart like a mother's tear.
But thou art gone to that blessed home,
And tears will never dim thine eye;
Where trouble and sorrow will never come,
Where we'll meet thee by and by;
Where joy and love will forever reign,
With thee who art ever there,
For thou has entered the pearly gates,
And are with angels bright and fair.
Yes we all will miss thee, Emma;
We'll miss thee in our care,
We'll miss thee in our leisure hours,
We'll always see the vacant chair.
But we know that our earthly loss is thy of real gain,
And that if we are true and good,
We'll meet thee again.
O, God, our Heavenly Father hear,
Guide us safely to the end,
That we may with our darling dear,
A blest eternity spend.
