Freddy Lenburg

McCool.
This neighborhood is experiencing a diptheria scare. The school has been closed. A few weeks ago a man came out from Chicago to visit some friends near here. He brought with him a sore throat. When he returned home he had a nicely developed case of diptheria. From him it is supposed others caught the disease. Freddy Lenburg, the six year old son of James Lenburg, took sick December 2. Doctors said it was a case of croup. A few days later the white spots in his throat appeared, and on the 9th inst. Freddy was dead. His sister, aged 8, was also taken down, but the doctors hope to save her. Two children of Dick Schweir are also victims of this dread disease, but there are strong hopes of their recovery. Every precaution should be taken to prevent the spread of this disease, and the people here are very careful. However, there are several exposures reported, and it is feared that others will come down with it.
