Nancy M. Kellogg
OBITUARY.
KELLOGG. -- At Valparaiso, Ind., Friday evening, January 17th, 1879, after a brief illness, Mrs. Nancy M., wife of Mr. Azor Kellogg, in the 80th year of her age.
Nancy M. Stevens, the subject of the above notice, was born in Richmond, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, June 13th, 1799. In 1810 she removed with her father's family to Lebanon, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. On the 30th of March, 1820, she was joined in marriage to Azor Kellogg, who was the first white male child born in that county. August 3d, 1841, they removed from Pennsylvania to Burton, Henry County, Ill., and on the 22d of December, 1850, to Valparaiso, where they have since resided.
Five children were born to them, of whom one, a son, died about thirty years ago. Another, the first wife of Mr. Daniel White of this place, died in the summer of 1867. The remaining three, sons, are well known citizens of Valparaiso.
Before leaving Pennsylvania, Mrs. Kellogg had learned to love and trust the Savior, but delayed making a public profession of her faith until after coming to Valparaiso, where, on the 10th day of January, 1850, she was received into the communion of the Presbyterian Church, with which she retained her connection till her death. Her life was exemplary; her end, though sudden, peaceful and fill of hope.
The funeral services were held at 1 o'clock P. M., on last Sabbath and were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Robert Beer, and her remains were then interred in the old cemetery of Valparaiso.
