Jones
LOCAL.
Doubt is expressed about Miss Jones, who died so suddenly Monday morning last in this county, having taken poison, as she is said to have denied it repeatedly, and only confessed just before her death in answer to pressing inquiry, when her reason might have been impaired so much as to cause her to answer leading questions according to their suggestion. Two circumstances are said to favor this doubt: namely, that having eaten freely of chestnuts some hours before, they might have caused her sudden ailment; and no motive can be conjectured for her taking poison. Otherwise she must likely have taken the poison by accident, and thought best to keep the knowledge of it from her friends.
