Elizabeth Jones
OBITUARY.
Died, on February 27, in Hageman, of typhoid pneumonia, after an illness of one week, Elizabeth Jones, wife of Dr. Erasmus J. Jones, aged 66 years, 2 months, and 1 day. Her remains were laid to rest in what is known as the Kimball cemetery on Monday, March 2. Services were held at the house, and were conducted by Rev. Perrine. Sister Jones was the mother of ten children, six of whom survive her, and were present at her funeral, viz., Laura Terry, Theodore C., Joseph A., Schuyler and Willie Jones, and Mary J. Sovereign. Laura and Schuyler were the only ones arriving in time, to see her alive. Sister Jones was born in Zenia, Green county, Ohio, on the 26th day of December, 1824. She was married to the Doctor on the 6th day of January, 1846. Five years after the doctor moved to Indiana, and settled at Gossett's Mills. He practiced medicine at that place for many years, was elected Clerk of Porter county and served two terms. After the war the family came to Chesterton, and after a residence of several years, moved to Hageman. Sister Jones had a large circle of acquaintances, and many no doubt can now call to mind her innumerable acts of charity. She leaves a large circle of intimate friends and acquaintances, and a beloved husband who mourns the loss of an affectionate wife, the children a loving mother, and the community a respected and revered member. May she rest in peace.
