John R. Johnson
NEWS OF THE WEEK.
Westchester township is becoming a lucrative field for the Coroner, and for the past month the record of dead men found has been one a week. Last Sunday section men discovered a dead body lying along the Lake Shore track, and brought it to Chesterton. Coroner Coates came down and on investigation found that the man had a broken arm, and had been badly injured about the body. The supposition is that he had been thrown from the cars, and after some hours died from his injuries. His name was ascertained to be John R. Johnson, home unknown. The body was that of a man perhaps 45 years old. He wore a full black beard and was evidently a tramp. The body was turned over to Undertaker Lundberg who buried it.
The man found dead on the Lake Shore road at Dune Park Sunday was an escaped insane patient from Cook county, Ill. He had been struck by the pilot beam of a locomotive.
