Peter Jackson
COUNTY SEAT NOTES.
From the Star:
At 4 o'clock Saturday morning Peter Jackson an old resident of Porter county, died at his residence in this city. Mr. Jackson was over 70 years of age and has resided in Porter county for more than 40 years. He was a member of Company C, 99 Indiana Volunteers during the war and was at the time of his death a member of Chaplain Brown No. 106, Department of Indiana, G. A. R. He will be buried tomorrow (Sunday) at 4 o'clock in the afternoon from his late residence on Napoleon street. The services will be in charge of the Chaplain Brown Post. In the death of Mr. Jackson another of the older settlers of this county as well as one of the Countrys defenders has been taken from our midst. One by one the old veterans are dropping out of the ranks and we are forcibly reminded of the fact that soon the last of the gallant band will have answered their final roll-call.
