George Huber's Death.
It is not often that we have occasion to chronicle so sad an event as the accidental death of Mr. Huber and the circumstances attending it. Only last week we noted his presence here attending the illness and death of an infant son. He returned to his business as locomotive engineer on the Green Bay & Minnesota railroad, leaving his wife and two little boys, who were soon to follow. Saturday night our Fort Wayne operator received a dispatch that Mr. Huber had been killed in a railroad accident, and that the remains would be brought home on the Fort Wayne road Monday morning. The grief of this stricken family can better be imagined than described. For a time it was feared that Mrs. Huber would not recover from the shock. The funeral took place at 3 p. m., conducted by the masonic fraternity here. The sermon was preached by E. S. Riley. Mr. Huber was truly an exemplary husband, father and citizen, and as such his loss will be generally mourned. He had won many friends in the West. His coffin came covered with flowers and was attended by officers of the road on which he was employed and neighbors near whom he lived. His brother masons presented a very fine appearance while attending the remains to its tomb. Much sympathy and kindness was expressed toward the bereaved wife and children and they will undoubtedly find warm friends and kind hearts to assist in bearing their great sorrows.
