Mary Hopkins
Miss Mary Hopkins.
The following which relates to the death of a former resident of Valparaiso, we clip from the Dowagiac, (Mich.,) Republican, Jan. 21:
"Yesterday morning at about 3 o'clock, Miss Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Hopkins, breathed her last at her parent's residence in this city. This is a sad blow to the parents, as she was an only child, and one well worthy of their affection. She has been sick about seven months and was aged only 17 years.
The young lady early showed fine intellectual capacities and absorbing love for music, a taste which her parents have fully gratified, leading to a proficiency rarely attained by one so young.
The funeral services will be held at the residence opposite the M. E. church, tomorrow at one o'clock, P. M., Rev. Mr. Spoor officiating. The burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery."
