Laura H. Hoadley
OBITUARY.
HOADLEY. -- Mrs. Laura H. Hoadley, after a very brief illness, died on June 29th, 1880, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. A. J. Bergo.
Early in the morning the deceased was severely attacked with paralysis which terminated her life a little more than two hours afterwards.
Mrs. Hoadley was born in New Haven county, Conn., and was over seventy years old at the time of her death. She came with two of her brothers to northern Ohio when about twenty years of age. Soon after she was married to Thos. L. Hoadley and went with him to Delaware, Ohio, where they spent the earlier part of their married life. In later years their home has been in northern Indiana.
Her husband's death occurred only about 8 months previous to her own.
They both died away from their home, but in the same house and in the same room. Their remains rest together in Round Lake church-yard.
Mrs. Hoadley possessed a remarkably happy disposition; she cheered home and friends with her glad smile and happy thoughts, and in her words of Christian love, the disconsolate ones of earth often found a balm for their troubled spirits. She lived all of life and in death she is blessed. Her happy consciousness was with her to the latest breath, as she said:
"My friends, I will come often back,
I'll not forget the homeward track,
And out of pains and sorrowsrack
I'll sing thee every soothing lay
I learn in Heaven,
I'll lead the way
To God."
A loving mother, a true friend and a faithful Christian, her life and death illustrate the words, "I have glorified thee on earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."
