Martha Ann Hill

Obituary.
Martha Ann Hill wife of Mr. Leonard Hill of Jackson Centre, died early on Saturday morning Oct. 6th, after a very protracted illness. The deceased whose maiden name was Chickner was born in Brunswick, Rensslaer Co., N. Y., Feb. 18, 1834 from which place the family removed to Pendleton, Niagara Co., N. Y., in 1837, where she was married to Mr. Leonard Hill, of Wheatfield, N. Y. in 1837, when they removed to Indiana Sept. 26, 1858 and settled in Jackson township where they continued to live until Saturday morning last, when Mr. Hill passed away. She leaves in addition to her husband, five children to mourn her loss; Mrs. McCollister, Annie Cape, Leonard Hill, Annie Cape, and Lenonard Hill, Jr.

The deceased was visited by a stroke of paralysis on April 3rd, subsequently with dropsy, and brights disease; she had been steadfast since August 24th, and during all her long and painful illness she manifest great patience and when the last moments came with a clear mind and clearness of voice she engaged in sining.

Bear me away on your snowy wing
To my immortal home.

The funeral occurred at the Jackson Centre M. E. Church, on Sunday afternoon, and was largely attended. The services which were very impressive were conducted by Rev. Wm. West of Chesterton.
