Henry Heckleman

LOCAL NEWS.
Henry Heckleman, a brakeman on freight train No. 42 going east Monday morning about 9:30 was instantly killed near Burdick station. He was going from a barrel car to a coal car, and had hold of a slat on the barrel car which gave way threw him under the wheels, the body was cut in two, the whole train passing over him. The mail train which was just behind the freight train came very near passing over the remains. The Engineer stopped his train so suddenly to avoid doing so, that the passengers were badly shaken up. Heckleman had been in the employ of the Lake Shore Company for several years, and leaves a family at Elkhart. He was about 26 years of age.
