John J. Harris
OBITUARY.
Died, on the 17th inst., at the residence of his brother in Wheeler, John J. Harris. The deceased was born in Oxford co., Ontario, Dec. 6th, 1845. He belonged to a family of eight children, 9 of whom with the mother are still living. His companion died a little over a year ago, leaving him one son to care for, and now this little boy twelve years old is left without both of his parents, an orphan indeed. The disease with which he died, the consumption, had long been preying upon his system, and his death was not unexpected by his friends. The funeral services took place at the M. E. church in Wheeler, in the presence of a large congregation of friends and neighbors, and were conducted by Elder E. S. Riley, of Valparaiso, assisted by the pastor of the Methodist church, Rev. Lodier, after which the remains were buried in the Wheeler burying ground. The funeral services were conducted under the directions of the Masonic fraternity of which the deceased was a member. Many of this order present, were from the Valparaiso lodge.
