Laura T. Harper
OBITUARY.
Mrs. Laura T. brush was born at Salt Creek, Indiana, May 30th, 1852, and died at her home near Chesterton, Ind., Oct. 9th, 1889 in the 38th year of her age. On the 11th inst. the funeral services were held in the M. E. Church at Chesterton, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. M. Virden, of the Valparaiso circuit, after which her mortal remains were borne to the final rest by a large concourse of surviving friends.
Mrs. Brush was one of nine children born to Archibald and Emily Harper. She was married to James Johnson Feb. 9th 1874. He was called away by death September 2nd, 1879. One son, Wilbur, was the result of this marriage.
On November 11th, 1883, she was married to her now bereaved husband, Irvin Brush. Three children were the fruits of this union, the youngest being but seven weeks old at the time of her death.
She united with the M. E. Church in early life and up to the day of her death, so far as circumstances would permit, contributed as best she could to its interests. For the last two years she had been quite active in church and Sunday school work, and in these relations especially will be greatly missed in the community in which she lived. A true christian, a dutiful daughter, sister, wife and affectionate mother has been called from the toils of earth to the awards of heaven.
Life's little hourney's done;
It's fitful seasons past,
Its battle's fought, it victories won,
And she is crowned at last.
