THE DOINGS OF DEATH.
Once more THE TRIBUNE is called upon to chronicle the demise of one of our pioneer citizens. This time it is Mrs. Hannah J. Hageman, wife of Henry Hageman, who departed this life on Saturday, March 21st, after an illness of one week. She received a stroke of paralysis one week before her death, which was of a progressive nature, and which finally ended in death. The funeral was held Tuesday from the M. E. church, Chesterton, services being conducted by Rev. Hall, and the remains interred in the Chesterton cemetery. Deceased was born Feb. 7, 1820, in Union county, Ind., and was a daughter of John Gossett. She was unted in married to Mr. Hageman on Feb. 9, 1841, in Scott county, Iowa. Since 1834, excepting a short time spent in Iowa, she had been short time spent in Iowa she had been a resident of Porter county, and was the mother of thirteen children, five of whom survive her. These children all came home before her death, and were with her during her dying hours. They are, Mrs. Sarah J. Wentworth, of Galva, Ills., Mrs. Rosa Long, Mrs. M. L. Ackerman, John Hageman, and Mrs. Hannah Busse. Mrs. Hageman united with the M. E. church in 1838, at Salt Creek under the ministry of Elder Forbes, and to the day of her death was a devout christian and a faithful member of the church. She was a living mother, a kind neighbor, and a good wife, and leaves behind her many friends to mourn her loss. May she rest in peace. The bereaved husband husband and family have the sympathy of th community in their bereavement.
