OBITUARY.
Fell asleep, at noon, Tuesday, the 18th, after a very protracted and painful illness, Miss Florence Green, oldest daughter of Dr. H. Green, aged 21 years. Seldom are we called to chronicle so sad a death. Young and lovely, she was endowed with an uncommon degree of intelligence, a bright, active mind too active for her physical organization which was extremely sensative. She was a great sufferer for amny months, all of which she bore patiently, and thoroughly appreciated the kindness of her many friends. She was always an active, earnest worker in the Sabbath school, as scholar and teacher, until her health utterly failed. She was a great lover of nature. The woods, the skies, the beautiful flowers, with which God has adorned the world, were her admiration, and this love of nature will displace much, or all of evil, and fill the soul with sentiments of purity. The family have the sincere sympathy of all their friends and neighbors in the sad affliction which leave their hearts so sorrowful and lonely. But she is at rest, her suffering is o'er. Tenderly and lovingly we laid her away, among the flowers she loved so well, and may the all-wise Father so till the hearts of that tender mother, faithful father, and loving sister, with divine grace, as to enable them to say, "The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord." O, the grave! It buries every error, covers every defect; extinguishes every resentment, from its peaceful bossom spring none but fond regrets and tender recollections, and may this affliction so soften our hearts as to make us more faithful in the discharge of our duty to the living.
