GIBSON.
Mary E. Gibson, nee Shaeffer was born in Doffin county, Penn., 1826, and peacefully passed away at her home in Hebron, Porter county, Ind., Oct. 30, 1890. The family of which sister Gibson was a member, came from Penn to the state of Ohio and settled in Crawford county in 1836. Isaac Shaeffer was married Nov. 30th, 1848, remaining in Ohio until 1863, at which time they came to Indiana and settled in Kewannie, Fulton county, and in 1866 they came to Hebron, Porter county, where they have since continued to reside. To Brother and Sister Gibson were born seven children. Of these three still live, one son and two daughters.
A brother and sister of Sister Gibson, Mr. J. C. Shaeffer and Mrs. Rebecca Andrews, of Nevada, Ohio, were present at the deathbed of their sister, as Bro. Gibson and his three children were all there to mourn together the loss of a good wife, a christian mother, and a devoted sister.
Isaac Gibson and Mary, his wife, were members of the German Reformed Church when they came to this place. But not finding here the church of their choice they united with the M. E. church while Bro. Kahler was Pastor, more than thirty years ago, and have ever been faithful and consistent members of the same, so that we as a church mourn as one family our great loss. The funeral took place from the M. E. church Oct. 31 at 10 a. m. The pastor, J. B. Smith officiating.
