Mark D. Gardner
Funeral of Mr. Mark D. Gardner.
Mr. Gardner died at his residence, two miles north of Wanatah, on Friday, Dec. 12, after an illness of several months. He was buried at Westville on Sunday last. The high esteem in which he was held, was attested by the very large concourse assembled to attend his funeral and to assist in the last sad rites of interment. The casket was in charge of the Odd-Fellows, and he was buried by them with the usual ceremonies of the Order. Though Mr. Gardner was a member of the Lodge in Valparaiso, the Westville Lodge officiated at his burial. Many Odd Fellows from Valparaiso were in attendance.
Mr. Gardner was for several years a resident of our city and was well and favorably known among us. He leaves a wife and three children and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
