Theodore Friday
IN MEMORIUM.
In memory of Theodore, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Friday, age 6 month and 3 days.
"Sadly do we miss the Theodore,
As you were a dear one,
Who with all this earthly trouble,
Pain and sorrow you are done.
Empty is the lovely cradle,
Which contains our Baby's bed.
Lightened is the snowy pillow,
Where he once did rest his head.
Silent is your little clatter,
And stilled your little tongue;
The songs that were once sung to you,
Will never more be sung.
Around your form we all are weeping,
For we knew the time had come,
When our darling babe must leave us,
And its troubles on earth be done.
Soon so sweetly you'll be sleeping,
In the Land where all is well;
For the Good God to thee calleth,
Go with him to dwell.
Soon will come the changeful Autumn,
And the leaved of every color;
And around you they will gather,
Your little grave to cover.
The will come white-bearded winter,
To us mourners here below,
but you in Heaven cannot feel,
Though your grave be glad in snow.
You came to us the first of Fall,
We loved thee, Ah!, so dearly;
And 'tis sad to think a bud so sweet,
Should live but just 'till Spring.
One pleasant day in first of Fall,
A pearl to us was given,
He came to us to bud on earth,
But now shall bloom in Heaven.
