Martha E. French
TWO HOMES VISITED BY DEATH ANGEL
(From Thursday's Daily)
Mrs. Martha E. French, wife of Solon French, died this morning at the home on Morgan street, after a long period of suffering. Death was due to complications which finally affected the heart. Mrs. French had been failing in health since last fall.
Mrs. French was born in Knox county, Ohio, April 15, 1844, and, had she lived, would have been 72 years old next Saturday. She came to this county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Atwell, landing on her birthday in 1853. On December 7, 1862, she was married to Mr. French. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in this city.
Only one of the six children born to Mr. and Mrs. French -- Burton French -- survives the mother. He occupies the old French homestead in Union township. W. T. Atwell, of this city, is a brother of the deceased, and Mrs. Augusta stolker, of Chicago, is a sister.
