Mary Fothergell
PORTER POINTERS.
Died on Sept. 1, 1893, Mrs. Mary Fothergell Smithells, at her home in Porter, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Smithells has been an invalid for seven years. The funeral was held in Michigan City on Wednesday, the services being conducted in the M. E. church of that place, and the remains interred in the Michigan City cemetery.
Deceased was born in Radcliff, England, October 15, 1812. She came to Porter from Michigan City 13 years ago. Years ago her husband died and she remained a widow until death joined her to her husband. Four children remain to mourn her loss -- Mrs. Whitten, Miss Smithells, John F. and Richard Smithells. She was a devout member of the Methodist church, and joined that church in Michigan City 55 years ago. Her death is sincerely mourned by all who knew her.
