Benjamin F. Fifield
OBITUARY.
Lines to the memory of little Benjamin F. Fifield, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Fifield, born November 25, 1887, died September 14, 1891.
Another bud has blossomed,
A spirit taken flight,
Not on this dreary waste,
But to that realm sublime.
Can nothing quell these aching hearts?
Can nothing still these throbs?
O yes! What consolation! Yes,
"Thy will, oh God, be done."
Sweet Pet! O darling Bennie!
No more we'll see your form,
Fitting here in early morning,
Or there at closing dawn;
For within the grave's profound embrace,
Busy Ben has found a resting place.
Death snatched him from us suddenly;
the grief 'tis hard to bear,
Oh! do permit us Jesus,
His heavenly home to share.
Put by those toys he treasured,
The unfinished puzzle save,
For oh! 'tis sad but true,
Busy Ben is hushed for aye.
