William Dye

DIED.
Mr. William Dye, of Boon Grove, was on last Friday riding on a load of hay which he was hauling from the marsh, when by a jolt he lost his balance, fell and struck his head first on the ground. His neck was broken and he died immediately. He was born in Maryland in 1805, and so was 77 years old. At the age of nineteen he was married to Nancy Jones, who survives him. They moved to this county in 1826. The widow and three children mourn their loss. He was a man of integrity, kind and tender hearted, and benevolent to all. He was 50 years a member of the Christian church, and his funeral was preached at that church at Boon Grove last Sunday by Elder Shortridge, of Jasper county. The attendance was large. He yet lives in the memory of numerous friends.

[Note: Biographical information from other sources indicate that William Dye moved from Wayne County, Ohio, to Porter County, Indiana, in the year of 1836, in the company of the Jacob and Agnes C. (Cornell) Axe family.]
