Ezra Albert Dunn
THE COUNTY.
HEBRON.
Ezra Albert Dunn was born on Block Island about 18 miles south of the main land and belonging to the state of Rhode Island, September 28, 1808, and departed this life at his own home four miles northwest of Hebron, August 26, 1879, aged 60 years, ten months and 28 days. August the 22d, 1831, he was united in marriage to Miss Lydia A. Ball, and for 48 years and four days they have walked life's road together. To them seven children have been born; two have been taken and five left. Two years after his marriage he left his native place and turned his steps westward, stopping in Ohio 11 years and then pushing on to the neighborhood where he has lived since that time, October 12, 1844, and has been an eye-witness of all the changes that have taken place since to the day of his death. His last sickness has been of 7 months duration all which time he has been closely confined to his bed and his sufferings have been severe. Soon after taking sick he made his will and disposed of his hard earned property as he judged best for the good of the family. His last effort to converse was an earnest exhortation to his family and friends to avoid his mistakes and give themselves to the Lord and meet him in heaven. Then folding his hands he said faintly "Blessed Savior," and E. A. Dunn was not, for the mortal conflict had ended. His funeral was preached to a very large assemblage of his old neighbors and friends by Rev. L. S. Buckles, of the M. E. church, from Daniel xii: 13, after which the mortal remains were deposited in the Salem cemetery.
