Mary C. Clifford
OBITUARY.
CLIFFORD. -- Last Saturday night at half past six o'clock p. m., at her residence three miles west of Valparaiso, at the age of 63, Mrs. Mary C. Clifford, wife of P. T. Clifford.
Mrs. Clifford was a native of County Cork, Ireland, where she lived until she was 29 years of age when, with her husband, to whom she was married in 1843, she came to America. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford made their home for a time in Vermont, from which state they moved to Ohio, and thence to this city in 1853, where Mr. Clifford was employed in the construction of the P., Ft. W. & C. R. R.
Here she has resided until the time of her death. Her illness has been a protracted one, being of about three months duration.
Her death leaves in sadness a husband, three sons, and a daughter, Mrs. P. O'Sullivan. The funeral services were conducted before a large congregation Monday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock from St. Paul's church.
Solemn requiem mass was celebrated, the celebrant being Rev. T. O'Sullivan, of Maytown, Illinois, assisted by Father Weichman, of Warsaw, deacon, and Rev. M. O'Reilly, sub-deacon. The funeral sermon was preached by Father Weichman.
In the death of Mrs. Clifford our community loses an excellent woman and her family a kind, good wife and mother.
