Honore Clayton

CHESTERTON CHIPS
The remains of Mrs. Honore Clayton were brought to Chesterton, Ind., on a Lake Shore special Monday afternoon, accompanied by 300 mourning relatives and friends and were taken directly to St. Patrick's church, where very impressive funeral ceremonies were held. Six priests came out from Chicago and assisted Father Kroll in the services. The remains were then taken to the little cemetery south of town and lad to rest beside those of her child, who died a quarter of a century ago.

Mrs. Clayton parted this life at her home, corner of 33rd street and Calumet avenue, Chicago, Friday evening, Jan. 29th, at the age of 60 years. The cause of death was blood poisoning. When a young girl, 50 years ago, she, with her mother, Mrs. Ruberry, lived in "Calumet," and it was here that she grew into womanhood. Upon her marriage to Chas. Clayton she went to Chicago, which has since been her home, but never did she forget the little village in Indiana that had been the scenes of her childhood. It was here that she desired to be brought back when she laid down the duties of life, and it was in accordance with her wishes that she is now sleeping in this little country cemetery instead of in a fashionable vault in Chicago.

Mrs. Clayton for many years was a member of St. James Parish but later moved into the jurisdiction of All Saints Church, and attended that house of worship. The funeral services held Sunday were in All Saints Church, but were conducted by the clergy of both parishes and attended by both congregations. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death.
