Solomon Chester
DIED,
In this village on the 21st instant, of Typhoid Fever, Solomon Chester, aged 40 years.
The deceased was a native of Maryland, but emigrated to the western country in early life and was one of the first settlers of this place where he has resided for the last nineteen years.
At the time of his death he was a worthy member of the M. E. Church, and rejoiced in a good hope of a better life to come. During his protracted illness which was frequently severe, he bore good testimony to the sustaining power of the religion of Jesus. He did not shrink when death approached, for 'Faith's bright vision spanned the river,' and he saw better things in the regions of the blest.
His cherished companion had just gone before,
And left him in sorrow and pain;
But soon they struck hands on the opposite shore,
And will never know sorrow again.
Deprived of a father's care and mother's tenderness, four little orphans are left in the dark world to mourn.
